"If the highest aim of a captain was to preserve his ship, then he'd remain in port forever."
-Thomas Aquinas on the battleship meta

Ensign Tate R. Smith is the newest recruit under the command of the eccentric Captain Salty McGraw. Sailing the strange waters of World of Warships, Smith is quickly learning that nothing is quite what it seems.

Is this reality? A simulation? Neither. It's just Naval Nonsense!

You can find a new comic every Sunday on the World of Warships Twitter

THAT'S A WRAP FOR "SEASON 1"

Stay tuned for more details on future comic strips!

Who Are They?

Capt. Salty McGraw

Captain McGraw is a seasoned veteran of countless battles spanning from the Open Beta Wars to the mysterious Clash of Elements. Years of experience have taught McGraw unconventional tactics unheard of in historical naval warfare. As a result, he strikes some as eccentric, but those unconventional tactics tend to payoff in spades.

Ens. Tate R. Smith

As the newest addition to the crew, Smith is still grasping the strange battles they face and the stranger tactics the Captain resorts to in order to triumph. He's yet to become fully concicous of the fact that they all exist in a strange simulation in which "crossing the T" just doesn't work. Despite his bafflement, Smith is an eager learner and seems to be adjusting quickly.

Ship Girl Monaghan #1287

There are many anime Commanders in the reserves of captains across World of Warships (just ask Smith!). This particular ship girl, however, has something "off" about her. She has somewhat of a vicious streak and, for some reason, holds a particular grudge against Capt. Salty McGraw. Despite this, she maintains a perky, cheerful demeanor (most of the time).

Ship Girl Clemson #2441

Working under the command of Monaghan #1287, Clemson #2441 has learned to take the wrathful streaks of her commander in stride. Clemson tasks herself with keeping crew morale high with a bubbly disposition and pop-laden music choices.

Ch. Eng. Joslyn

Despite rarely going out to sea these days, Joslyn feels like she's seen it all. As the leader of one of the many repair crews in Port, she's encountered her fair share of baffling wrecks and repaired them (inexplicably) quick. Though the obligatory Rosie the Riveter jokes bugged her at first, she's gone on to embrace the resemblance and is often seen charging passersby for photo ops.

Ship Girl Z-39 #682

Although she's a 19-point Commander in the dreaded Pretzelmarine, Z-39 is laid back on a level that borders on the lethargic. Is it apathy that fuels her chill factor, or is she just that confident? Either way, she'd much rather sleep in than give commands -- but duty calls!

Ship Girl Ernst Gaede #4323

As if compensating for her captain's hands-off approach, Gaede seems to have nearly no chill to speak of. With a brash demeanor and a ridicilously-fake-sounding German accent she puts lots of effort into, Gaede is just as focused on getting into character as she is getting into battle.
